One hefty sickbay after travelling to the Netherlands

Our family just returned from a nice holiday to Tim's grandparents in the Netherlands, but the last few days were quite a struggle. Mark has a stuffed nose and some pain in his throat and he is the healthiest of the three of us. Tim is struggling with a bug as well, he is crying more than usual, is sleeping quite a lot and has this odd cough. I on the other hand got a cold last Friday which progressed over the days in something worse --- a chest infection. I knew it was not an ordinary cold as my chest was "echoing" my breathing and I was making weird wheezing noises. After a visit to the doctor and some antibiotics I should be up (and running?) in a few days.

Last week we went to the Netherlands for Tim's first visit to his country of citizenship! We arrived in Hook of Holland on Wednesday morning, made a short stop in Amsterdam and continued to Egmond-aan-Zee to visit my 91 year old grandmother. She is still a feisty old lady, full of spirit and energy! In the evening we arrived at my parents place were we met up with Tim's aunt Fleur and uncle Johan. We spent the next day with my parents and visited a Dutch "kinderboerderij" (children's animal farm). Tim was not really impressed and slept through entire time!

On Friday we traveled from the north-west to the south-east of the Netherlands to visit my parents-in-law and celebrate Wim's 60th birthday. We also went to Mark's grandma (who incorrectly thought that Tim was at least 50 pounds!) and met up with Uncle Tom and Aunt Nicol several times. Unfortunately I was exhausted most of the time because of my cold.

Now back in Cambridge, all trying to get back on our feet!

New blog

We hope to keep friends and family up-to-date on our wanderings in life. Although most posts will be in English (to keep our English friends happy), some (parts of) posts may be in Dutch, our mothertongue.

Enjoy!!!
